Mononeers

Mononeers | Chicago, Indianapolis, & Louisville Railway

The community that keeps The Hoosier Line alive, through stories, photos, and moving the Line forward.

Welcome, Railfans

The Monon’s story belongs to everyone who remembers its whistle, its crossings, and the communities it touched. Mononeers is a place to share those memories — photos tucked in family albums, stories passed around kitchen tables, and bits of history waiting to be rediscovered.

Whether you have a snapshot from along the line, a timetable, or just a story to tell, we’d love to help preserve it for future generations. Every submission, no matter how small, adds to the living picture of The Hoosier Line and the people who kept it running.

Use the form beside this section to send your memories, scans, or notes. Together, we’ll keep the line running in spirit, one story at a time.

Frequently asked

Short answers for railfans and reporters.

Mononeers was created to recognize and connect those who have a personal link to the Monon; whether you rode its trains, worked along its line, or simply grew up hearing its whistle in the distance. It’s a space to honor those memories and preserve the voices of the people who lived its story.

We, referring collectively to Monon LLC (The Monon Company), The Hoosier Line, and Mononeers, are not a historical society, nor do we aim to perform the work of the Monon Historical & Technical Society. Their research and preservation are invaluable, and we deeply respect and commend their dedication.

Our purpose is to listen, learn, and follow the guiding tracks left by the original Monon Railroad; to ensure that everything we build today, as a company, continues to reflect the values, integrity, and spirit that defined The Hoosier Line.

We encourage creative work that keeps the Monon’s story alive, but all uses of our names, logos, and related imagery must respect both their historical significance and current trademark protections. The Monon name represents generations of pride, service, and community; values we take seriously in every modern use.

If you’re developing a fan project, product, advertising, business operations/management/consulting/etc, apparel, publication, or any form of artwork that references Monon or its associated marks, please contact ip@monon.net before using them. This helps ensure your work does not unintentionally infringe on protected intellectual property, while giving us the opportunity to collaborate or extend official permission where appropriate.

Our goal isn’t to restrict creativity or the legacy, it’s to protect the integrity of the Monon name and ensure that every use of it reflects the respect, craftsmanship, and authenticity that defined The Hoosier Line.
